The Auschwitz Album is the only surviving visual evidence of the process leading to the mass murder at Auschwitz-Birkenau. It is a unique document and was donated to Yad Vashem by Lilly Jacob-Zelmanovic Meier.

The photos were taken at the end of May or beginning of June 1944, either by Ernst Hofmann or by Bernhard Walter, two SS men whose task was to take ID photos and fingerprints of the inmates (not of the Jews who were sent directly to the gas chambers). The photos show the arrival of Hungarian Jews from Carpatho-Ruthenia. Many of them came from the Berehovo Ghetto, which itself was a collecting point for Jews from several other small towns.

'The Auschwitz Album' was mentioned in passing in another thread and I felt it merited a thread of it's own. This album is touted a 'proof of the brutal hitlerite extermination of 6,000,000 of Europe's jews'. Feel free to look at it and judge for yourself. To me, this album shows nothing of the sort.

I've mentioned this several times over the years here. If you look at the pictures and DO NOT read the loaded and slanted captions and ask yourself what do I see in each case. You will not see death, mass murder, abuse or even nastiness.

The other thing I found interesting is that these pictures were taken at the height of the German war, they were doing well in most areas and thus along with their thousand year Reich thinking why would they take pictures of them in the process of killing all the jews and not take any of the actual death process. If they felt invincible they had nothing to worry about. The hole in this myth is big enough to drive several London buses through.

Whoever claimed the Album is proof of murder, is wrong. It is part of the corroborating evidence of mass transports arriving at Birkenau and the selection process.

It wasn't bandied as such specifically on this site. It is presented as such in education however.

Just a lot of assumptions about what the photographs show and a lot of innuendo.

This is indeed presented as a 'proof' of the holocaust. Not 'the proof' as no one such item is ever presented as 'the proof', but, as I'm sure you would like to say, 'part of a constellation of evidence of the genocide carried out by the hitlerite fascists'.

I have noticed a distinct lack of rifles, pistols, whips, clubs and other instruments, dogs etc.

If you only read witness testimony and then you look at these pictures, perhaps you will be as perplexed as I at how this album supports the orthodox thesis at all.

If I take only 1 fact from the Auschwitz Album, it is that the witnesses can indeed lie, and have.

They also don't look at all like the paintings and drawings. Where are the big titted SS women with pouty lips, whips and the come hither looks wearing only a trenchcoat and boots.

Perhaps she is wearing a skirt. I'll look for some other artist renditions, this one seems to lack the button bursting bosom and is wearing a little more than just the coat and boots.

I am calling you out as lying that the photos of the Hungarian arrivals, are on their own, presented by a credible source as proof of the Holocaust. At best, there is a source that uses the term proof, when it should say evidence.

You engage in some word play, and suddenly people are no long told that this collection of photographs is proof, because, they didn't specifically say the word in the article from yad vashim?

When I ask for 'proof' this is unironically part of that which is provided, as 'objective proof'.
